Her Christmas Gift Guide: Female-Run Businesses To Support this Holiday Season

November 30, 2020

Words by Serena McSweeney

In a year that has been like no other, 2020 has brought its fair share of obstacles. From detrimental bushfires to two global pandemics, this year has taught us the importance of resilience, positivity and relationships.

This year has seen Melbourne enter into the longest lockdown anywhere in the world (to date), seeing shops close for over 100 days. In August, the Australian Bureau of Statistics found that more than a third of Australian businesses will expect to find it very difficult to meet financial commitments in the coming months.

When businesses struggle to meet their financial obligations, there are drastic repercussions that may stem from this, including reducing their workforce or even closing their businesses. There is an evident need, now more than ever, for the true Australian spirit to ring true and to band together the way we have been doing so successfully this year.

As Christmas draws closer and we start purchasing presents for friends and family, we  challenge you to not only shop locally this year but to also support female-owned and/or operated businesses.

We have created a list of some incredible Australian, female-owned businesses. These brands range in their prices and items, meaning there will be something for anyone and any occasion. Here is Her Economy’s 2020 Christmas Gift Guide:
